Born and raised in Northern New Jersey, Gerard graduated from North Texas State University (1:00 Lab Band) before moving to San Francisco and ultimately going on tour with Ray Charles and his Orchestra.
Gerard moved to NYC in 1980 where he subbed on Broadway and played with the big bands of Toshiko Akiyoshi-Lew Tabackin, Mel Lewis and Charlie Persip.

An experienced band leader, Gerard is comfortable rehearsing and performing with local musicians or with his band from NY.

Described as “classy and classic”, Gerard has performed his act some of NY's finest supper clubs including the Rainbow Room, the Waldorf=Astoria, Lincoln Center, Michaels Pub, Eighty-Eights & Firebird Cafe.
He has two solo albums, "Beautiful Dancer" and "Lucky to Be Me" which can be found on CD Baby.
Gerard's sets are tailored to his audience from bebop to show tunes. Themes include the music of The 40s on Broadway, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bobby Darin.
Comfortable on ballads or hard swinging standards, Gerard recently performed with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and has a book of classic Sinatra arrangements.
Gerard can bring burning jazz soloists such as Andy Fusco (Buddy Rich), his NY rhythm section or the full band. His 10-piece book swings and is great for dancing.
